Hi! I’m Salha Kaitesi, a self-taught blogger and social entrepreneur who runs Teakisi.
Teakisi initially started as an African women’s blog with the platform receiving over 2 million hits annually. It adapted over time and in 2020 became a Community Interest Company. Teakisi benefits the community and the collaborations that it achieves. So it’s nice to have Tribe Tesi as my personal space where I can express myself. You can expect my thoughts and ideas on a variety of subjects. Having been a blogger for more than 11 years, I can’t wait to share my blogs with you all.
Before arriving as a teenager and settling here in the north east of England, my formative and early years happened in Rwanda – the “land of a thousand hills”. My motherland’s history means that myself and my fellow Rwandese are forever touched by the atrocities of 1994.
Having a close knit family means the world to me and I still thrive on having that whenever I revisit Rwanda and Africa. I’m a proud Mum to my gorgeous son Kimi who is doing so well (Alhamdulilah). As well as volleyball he plays basketball too. Sport is such an interest that sometimes I have to remind him about his education too! We both live between Newcastle and Northumberland with my handsome ‘huzband’ Dan, who is a source of constant support behind the scenes. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in life.
I am more than a blogger and mumpreneur; I am a trustee at Connected Voice, a motivational speaker, ambassador with Black History North East, event organiser, website developer, social media and digital skills facilitator, community engagement collaborator – who is proud to have worked with so many amazing people and brands in the region and around the world.
I enjoy my own peace and quiet, going to the movies, spending time with the men in my life, dining out, hanging out with friends….. My educational background includes a BA in Politics & Sociology and a MA in International Politics (Globalisation, Poverty & Development) from Newcastle University, UK.
