We are a collective space for Black women and Women of Colour who are ready to pause, reflect, and reckon, with ourselves and each other. This isn’t about performance or perfection. It’s about reconnecting with purpose, being honest about the journeys we’ve taken, and choosing to rise differently – together.
At the heart of She Rises is a commitment to authenticity. We centre radical truth-telling, not just about the systems around us but about our own choices, patterns, and presence within them. We talk honestly about when we’ve shown up well, and when we haven’t. We name the moments we’ve played small, cut corners, or been complicit. We also celebrate the women who model integrity, courage and care – those who are shaping a truer path for the next generation.
This is a space that draws its strength from heritage, lived experience, and sisterhood. Through conversation, connection and shared intention, She Rises invites us all to lead with more clarity, depth and care. Together, we make space for celebration. For accountability. For growth.
How it started
It began with a conversation. Faty Kane, Ngozi Lyn Cole, Odeth Richardson, Steph Edusei and Salha Kaitesi came together and named what so many of us have felt: the need for a space that didn’t require performance or polish, but welcomed honesty, reflection and growth. They reached out to others like Sahreen Safdar, Dr Beverley Prevatt Goldstein, Ranjana Bell, Dr Claire Ogah, Dr Donna Chambers – inviting Black women and Women of Colour from across sectors, roles and communities to join forces and co-create something rooted.
Who is She Rises for?
She Rises is for Black women and Women of Colour who:
- Know they’ve sometimes cut corners or gone quiet when they should’ve spoken up
- Want to reflect honestly on their role in the workplace or community
- Are tired of hearing “representation matters” with no reflection behind it
- Believe we can’t challenge stereotypes if we’re not doing the work to prove them wrong
- Are ready to celebrate the women who get it right and support those trying to do better
You don’t need to be perfect., you just need to be real and ready. Whether you’re a CEO, creative, campaigner, or community organiser, if you’re ready to reflect and be reflected back, you belong here. This isn’t about shame. It’s about responsibility. And that’s how we rise.
