June 2023 was nothing short of exhilarating. I had the pleasure of attending two concerts in one month, and both were absolutely unforgettable.
It kicked off with a trip to London to see the incredible Burna Boy at the Olympic Stadium. This was no ordinary concert; Burna Boy had the crowd on their feet from the first beat, delivering hit after hit with that unmistakable energy he’s known for. Songs like “Last Last” and “Ye” had the entire stadium vibing, and it felt like the whole city was in sync. Spending three days in East London, we stayed at the Hyatt hotel—a perfect choice that added a touch of luxury to the whole experience. But I can’t take credit for any of it – Dan, being the music star planner he is, got us the tickets and mapped out everything. Could I say no? Not a chance—I’m a huge fan!

A few weeks later, the excitement didn’t end there, we attended another concert, this time much closer to home at the Glass House International Centre for Music. The headliner? The one and only Kelis! As soon as she stepped on stage and the first notes hit, the room went wild. She took us through all her iconic tracks and a mixture of other people’s instrumentals with her on the vocals including collaborations she had done with the like of Busta Rhymes and ODB – the crowd was loving every second. It was a reminder of how Kelis continues to command the stage with her unique sound and charisma.
From London’s bustling energy to the more intimate vibes at the Glass House, both concerts were experiences I’ll treasure. The music, the atmosphere, and being surrounded by fellow fans made for an unforgettable month. Concerts were never my thing as I always worried about the crowds and how I could have just been in my bed but these are I’m realising are not just events – they’re moments you carry with you long after the last note fades. Here’s hoping for more incredible music moments in the future!
